Apps
ANSYS is an open platform that allows to add apps to extend or adapt the functionality to suit your needs just like apps on your smart phone.  The app can be everything from a simple custom result export utility to a toolkit for detailed bolt or weld evaluation or a simulation wizard to guide you through a complex analysis process.

Compared to old school scripting apps does not require you to have script knowledge but can be used of any user familiar with ANSYS Workbench. This will speed up your work and avoid many human errors allowing you to be more productive. For example, instead of exporting raw data to Excel for post processing the app can visualize your custom result direct on the model.

EDRMedeso is one of the main contributor to the ANSYS app echo system adding industry specific knowledge such as code evaluation according to ASME and Eurocode 3 and automation features in easy to use apps both free and paid.

By creating an “ANSYS account” (formerly named “Discovery Account”) you can manage downloading of free apps as well as purchase of app subscriptions for paid apps. You can at any time access your subscriptions and download new versions from your ANSYS account.

The paid apps uses ANSYS standard floating license. The list price is per seat for one year lease including Technical Enhancement and Customer Support, TECS, by email only.

Important information about apps for ANSYS R19.0, R19.1 and R19.2!
Due to two confirmed defects in ANSYS R19.0 Mechanical may crash or freeze when evaluation app results.
ANSYS has posted a service pack “Structures Updates” for R19.1 on the Customer Portal. This update is needed for app results to work correctly.

ANSYS license manager R19.2 is not compatible with paid app licenses and this confirmed defect will be fixed in next release.
Mechanical R19.2 supports all R19 apps and can be used with R19.1 license manager.
