Grundfos uses Ansys simulation tools to develop high-performance electric motors with improved efficiency, power density and sustainability. Multiphysics simulation helps reduce prototyping, accelerate development and support future digital twin initiatives.
Grundfos uses advanced Ansys simulation tools to design and optimise electric motors for its pump systems. As motor designs become more complex, traditional analytical methods are not always sufficient to predict performance accurately. To address this, Grundfos relies on finite element analysis and multiphysics simulation to evaluate motor behaviour across electromagnetic, thermal and mechanical domains during the development process.
Using Ansys Motor-CAD, Maxwell and optiSLang, Grundfos can reduce the need for physical prototypes, accelerate development and perform high-fidelity optimisation of motor designs. The simulation-driven approach enables engineers to improve efficiency, power density and acoustics while minimising cost and climate impact. Grundfos also sees simulation as a key foundation for future digital twins, predictive maintenance and system-level optimisation.
